After a whole school year of hard work and dedication, the BSIT faculty of St. Cecilia’s College finally took a well-deserved break through a meaningful and fun-filled team building at Olango Island, Cebu last June 14-15, 2025.

What made this trip more special was that we also invited some of our hardworking working students to join us, as a small reward for their commitment throughout the school year.

Planning the trip was both exciting and challenging. We made sure to prepare for everything—where to stay, what food to bring, and of course, our activities. Luckily, we found Vensal Homestay, a cozy and affordable accommodation for 10 people with all the essentials we needed.

We traveled in two groups: the titas rode with our dean, while the titos commuted all the way from Cebu City to Olango via Hangasil Port. After the early morning commute, the heat of the sun was already intense, and with check-in still hours away, we decided to go island hopping. Thankfully, one of our colleagues had a contact who arranged a boat for us.

The island hopping adventure was unforgettable. Before heading out, we stopped by the local market to buy fresh fish, meats, drinks, and ice. Under the clear skies and warm sun, we visited different islands, enjoyed swimming in the crystal-clear waters, and explored a marine sanctuary filled with starfish and schools of fish. Some of us even gathered the courage to dive and swim among the fish.

By afternoon, exhausted but happy, we finally checked in at Vensal Homestay. The place was better than expected — spacious, with air-conditioned rooms, a kitchen, a videoke machine, billiards, and a lot of space to relax.

That evening was made extra special as we celebrated our dean’s birthday. We searched far and wide around the island just to find a cake and some chicken for dinner. It became a memorable effort that showed how close and supportive we are as a team. The night was spent playing games, laughing, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other's company.

The next morning was slower-paced — just breakfast, movies, more conversations, and a chance to reflect on how great the experience was.

More than just a break from work, this trip reminded us of the importance of connection, friendship, and teamwork. We came home tired, but recharged — ready for the next academic journey ahead.
